Mid Major Bracket

This is a idea for the tournament selection process.  Basically you take the 32 Auto-Bids and then select the top 32 At-Large teams.  Then the last 4 spots are reserved for teams that would only have one team currently in the tourney.  Either the RSC or a 2nd Place team from a conference whose RSC also won the conference tournament.  You would eliminate the 16 vs 16 play-in games and the 4 play-in games would feature the last 4 At-Large selections vs the 4 RSC or 2nd Place teams.

2017 Mid Major Bracket

Based on the NIT Seedings the last 4 spots this year probably would have gone to
Illinois State
Monmouth
Colorado State
Charleston

They would have taken the spots of Kansas State/Wake Forest/Providence/USC and played the last 4 at-large teams on the true seed list
Opening Round Games
Marquette vs Illinois St.
Oklahoma State vs Monmouth
VCU vs Colorado State
Xavier vs Charleston

This is what this year's bracket would've looked like.
